Celestion 12" 8 Ohm for Jazz
Question:
Hi all! Need some advise, I’ve a small Vox Valvetronics running a G8 Celestion, which I’m very happy with to play my Archtop (not the bass obvious!). Trouble started when I added up a custom Celestion cab with a Celestion Classic Lead on, hopefully to boost it up but … I’m not happy at all with the extreme warm bass sound coming out of it (I’ve got the Ampeg for that !!!). Any suggestions pls ??? Should I swap the Classic Lead for a Greenback or standard (Vintage) G12 perhaps ??? Tks. Ulisses — "Are you still wasting your time with spam?… There is a solution!" A proper modeling amp uses a specially voiced speaker. It makes no sense to model certain amps and cabs, then use a guitar speaker with its own voice. It will shift all of the models. This is one reason why modeling pedals often sound better through a keyboard amp than through a guitar amp. If you want an extension speaker, use the SAME speaker as the one in the amp.

Right-o… and there are four "Line 6" drivers (spkrs) on FleaBay right NOW..! ! ! (They won’t ‘break up’ the set…)

Many tks Jim. (As the others say…), your advise sounds pretty enough sensible. Although, I did replace the original (Korean) speaker on the Vox (lousy piece of card…) by a proper Celestion (Tube): the G8 and the improvement was enormous. So, looks like I’ll hv a Classic Lead 12 to put on eBay and look shall be looking for a G12 ???… – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> Hi all!
