Old Accoustic Tube Amp
Question:
I have an old Acoustic G60T I bought used in 1984. The speaker was replaced with a 12" Jensen before I bought it and the magnet must weight 10lbs. I have never heard a smaller amp "70lbs" that has the depth of this piece of equipment. Can anyone tell me about it? http://www.newsfeed.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! —–= Over 100,000 Newsgroups – Unlimited Fast Downloads – 19 Servers =—–

If this is the amp I’m thinking of…EQ and reverb…brown grillcloth… These things sound great for rock and roll. Buddy of mine (RIP) played an ES-330 through one and it was a fine lead guitar amp. Really fine. Cuts through the mix very well too.
Response:
From what I have read, it is a clone of a Boogie and production ceased when Mesa threatened legal recourse. Matthew

I’ve got one of these, and I LOVE it. I’ve been trying to find a schematic for it though, with absolutely no luck whatsoever. A really killer amp. Even better through a 4×12 cabinet, but then that kind of defeats the "small combo" aspect of it. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > I have an old Acoustic G60T I bought used in 1984. His must be a later version. Mine has no EQ. Brown grill cloth and lots of cigarette burns though. http://www.newsfeed.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! —–= Over 100,000 Newsgroups – Unlimited Fast Downloads – 19 Servers =—–

That is interesting. This weighs so much more than a Boogie though. Could be a denser and thicker plywood on the case. Thanks http://www.newsfeed.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! —–= Over 100,000 Newsgroups – Unlimited Fast Downloads – 19 Servers =—–

It is pretty awesome eh. I bet we have the only two out there. I need to get a new two part pot for mine. Any ideas? Richard http://www.newsfeed.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! —–= Over 100,000 Newsgroups – Unlimited Fast Downloads – 19 Servers =—–

There were a few Acoustic Boogie clones, some with higher power then others. The ‘lawsuit’ model was a direct Boggie clone, they even xeroxed the schematic from Boogie in the 1st run, and Boogie went apeshit. Same transformers, everything. QC was very good. They can be found around for way less then the Boogig Equiv, a steal of a buy. I saw one in a Boston store for $300. I bought it, cause it had a Altec in it… I changed speakers (installed a Celestion) and got $300 for it. Still got the speaker. BTW..does anyone know who owns the roghts/name to "Acoustic Control Corp"..?? Just curious.. J Tash

I bought mine for considerably less than $300 about two years ago. I bought it initially because I had never seen an Acoustic TUBE amp. I had a pair of 150 heads with 4 105 cabinets when I was much younger, and got this for the novelty aspect. It was only after I played with it for a few days that I realized what a great sounding amp it was. Mine’s all original, and in nearly mint condition. I indend on putting a different speaker in it, because the stock CTS is a little lame in the open back cabinet. I’m thinking of a JBL M-series, or an EV-12L (if it will clear the tubes). The EQ section has more cut/boost than any guitar amp I’ve ever seen. I want to change the frequency of the low-band EQ a little bit, and maybe make the mid sweepable, or at least, switchable freq. Hence my desire for a schematic. I’ve tried tracking down Acoustic. There is an "unofficial" web site at Acoustic360.com, but my browser chokes on it. I saw a pair of new-looking sub-woofers the other day with the Acoustic logo on them. Is someone using the name? I tried Howard Sams, to see if they have a Fotofacts for it. However, unless you have the ISBN of the publication you want, they are less than helpful. Killer amp! (and heavier than my Twin!) – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->From what I have read, it is a clone of a Boogie and production ceased when >Mesa threatened legal recourse. >Matthew >> I have an old Acoustic G60T I bought used in 1984. I got a schematic for it somewhere. I’ll search the boxes with a good email address or snail mail, and it’s yours. I’ll dig it out this weekend. J TAsh
