I just looked at this newsgroup for the first time in a couple of years. Half the posts seem to be about politics. When did this forum stop being a place for useful information about guitar amps?

The beauty of the alt newsgroups is that they are a public forum without too many restrictions. While it is irritating to see lots of off topic posts (some of which I participate in too), it is the price of freedom. Freedom means having to put up with someone elses irritating habits, as well as having the freedom to express your own. I’m sure that you know this. What helps me avoid some of the discussions is using my kill filter. Not because I dislike someone that expresses themselves off topic, but because I do not wish to be drawn into such discussions – most of the time. Ed Cregger
