Fishman Powerbridge Examples

Question:

Put a Fishman Powerbridge into my Tele.  I run it out into an L.R.Baggs Para-Acoustic.  I think it sounds pretty damn good. Of course, it also has the Powerchip. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/mudbone61/fishman/sub1.mp3 http://mywebpages.comcast.net/mudbone61/fishman/pinball1.mp3 http://mywebpages.comcast.net/mudbone61/fishman/morphine1.mp3 http://mywebpages.comcast.net/mudbone61/fishman/horses2.mp3 http://mywebpages.comcast.net/mudbone61/fishman/stair1.mp3 http://mywebpages.comcast.net/mudbone61/fishman/stair2.mp3 Do not try and run a powerbridge into a guitar amp. Do not try and run a powerbridge without an interface. (like an LR Baggs acoustic-DI)

Anyone know for sure whether the tune-o-matic bridge typical on the Korean Epi’s & such (LP, Alleykat etc.) fits the same as the Nashville-type (which has a differnet adj nut)?  Wondering if the FishPB will fit.  Can’t get site details, uses BS flashapp to view.

I emailed them about what I thought of the new Fishman site design. The responder was not pleased so I assume he was one of the designers. ‘Webmaster’. Yes, it is amazing how some believe paying for a difficult or flashy site design that many can’t or won’t bother to hassle with, is done by vendors purportedly trying to promote & sell their products.  (Perhaps business is too good?)  Most people just want quick loading of straight, factual information, and even a plain text-based site would be far better for this. > Tuneomatic template-prints to size > http://www.fishman.com/uploads/products/documents/78.pdf > Install Guide > http://www.fishman.com/uploads/products/documents/79.pdf > Users Guide > http://www.fishman.com/uploads/products/documents/89.pdf

Thank you for your trouble.  I thought perhaps you were part of Fishman by your addy.  Unfortunately, 2 of the docs (the 3rd won’t load) don’t address my simple issue.  To clarify: The common Oriental tune-o-matic I speak of adjusts with a screwdriver applied to its more massive threaded mounting posts, which are theaded into ferrules in the body for this purpose.  The arrangement is like that of the stop tailpiece, though a different size with smaller posts but similar ferrules.  It is a superior and more robust arrangement than the thumbwheel/little post-type tune-o-matic, and I (and perhaps others) would be unwilling to sacrifice it by modding the axe back to the weaker design.  What is needed, is a dimensional print of the Fshmn bridge itself, and not anything for modding the axe, to see whether (1) the adjuster holes will accommodate the excellent original posts, or (2) whether there is enough metal in its casting to drill out the holes so they will.  It is clear that the Fshm is cut away under the holes for thumbwheels, but that is not necessarily problematic.  One would need the dimensions of this cutaway too, to ascertain whether the adjustment post shoulder will mate with it satisfactorily, or whether machined spacers (fancy washers) may be needed. This more massive bridge arrangement greatly contributes to the outstanding sustain & tone of these axes, many of which sound as good or better than others costing many times more, and would be boogered by reverting to the never-very-good original-style tune-o-matic, not to mention the insult of filling & partly refinishing the axe to do so.  The ferrule holes are a good deal larger than the .271" called out on the installation doc.  So the only good solution would be to drill (if needed) the Fshm bridge to suit. It may or may not also be relevant to know whether one can easily disasemble it (remove its piezos etc) for workmanlike drilling (again, if needed). Hope clearer.  :-)
